The Society of American Florists’ 2013 Outstanding Varieties Competition winners were announced this past November, and Kent’s Bromeliad Nursery has been recognized for our Guzmania Emperor. Voted Best in Class “Potted Flowering Plant,” the Emperor was chosen for its bright, lustrous red bracts and compact, light green rosette. Among the many attributes that blew the judges away this year, they also took into consideration the dependability, longevity, and “graceful curves.”

The SAF holds this competition each year, where ornamental horticultural growers display their best products. Since 1999, Kent’s has developed 35 award winning bromeliads and has won more SAF Awards than any other bromeliad grower in the U.S. In total, Kent’s has earned 41 ribbons, of which six are Best in Class “Potted Foliage/Flowering Plant” awards, eight Blue Ribbons, 24 Red Ribbons, and 3 White Ribbons.
